Apartment Maintenance Technician

In addition to focusing on fixing items in occupied apartments, you'll also spend a good portion of your day on property upkeep and preventative maintenance: you'll handle a wide variety of household repairs, prepare apartments for new residents, run through daily checklists, handle surprises, and more. No two days will be the same! You'll also be on our emergency on-call rotation fixing after-hours and weekend emergencies.

People who do best in this role are quick learners who take pride in their work, can work solo or in teams, and like variety and moving around. You'll need patience, respect for our residents' belongings and privacy, and a desire to provide excellent customer service. Previous experience working in the trades, or a facilities role is beneficial, as is any specialized expertise.

A high school or equivalent diploma, valid driver's license and reliable transportation (mileage reimbursed) are required.

This is an hourly paid position, including potential annual profit sharing. We have four department locations - one in Madison West/Middleton and three in the campus area:
Lucky, Regent/Suburbs, and Downtown. Our maintenance technicians have a "home location" but often move around throughout the year. As a full‑time employee, you'll work Monday‑Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with an on‑call rotation.

Steve Brown Apartments is delighted to provide a sign‑on & retention bonus for full‑time maintenance technicians during this time. The bonus will be paid in two installments at 3 months and 6 months of employment. More details about the bonus will be shared at the time of employment offer.

Salary: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
