Job Summary
Join the University Housing Facilities team as a Facilities Technician I. This role ensures that University Housing spaces are safe, clean, and well‑maintained. You will assist in repairing small equipment, troubleshoot maintenance issues, respond to urgent and emergency situations, and perform custodial cleaning duties on a 3rd shift schedule.
Key Job ResponsibilitiesRespond to urgent maintenance concerns and provide emergency response to residents and guests.
Conduct fire alarm checks, freezer and cooler checks, and support emergency elevator maintenance.
Assist residents who are locked out and handle work orders that require immediate attention.
Perform custodial cleaning duties for residence halls, dining facilities, and surrounding grounds.
Use basic equipment to repair and maintain machinery, equipment, and facility property under close supervision.
Assist with inventory and distribution of deliveries to appropriate entities.
Conduct routine facility inspections and monitor cleanliness.
Escalate and document issues according to established policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications- 6 months of general mechanical, small equipment repair, custodial, or floor experience.
- English proficiency (reading, writing, speaking, and understanding verbal instructions).
- 1 year of general mechanical, small equipment repair, custodial, or floor care experience.
- Valid driver’s license that meets UW Risk Management Standards.
High School diploma preferred.
CompensationStarting hourly wage: $19.00 or higher based on qualifications. Includes competitive retirement and benefit package, vacation, holidays, and paid time off.
Additional pay: $2.50/hour for nighttime work (6:00 pm–6:00 am) and up to $3.30/hour for nighttime weekend work.
