Job Summary

University Housing Facilities is seeking Custodians for its 1st and 2nd shift teams. Custodians work together to maintain welcoming, safe, and clean spaces for residents, staff, and guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain organization of supply areas and equipment, document inventory, and request additional supplies as needed.
  • Document and report repairs, violations, and pest control needs.
  • Utilize basic equipment and supplies to clean assigned facility areas and remove waste and recyclables.
  • Assist residents and guests with event set‑up and take‑down.
  • Monitor and secure facility interior and exterior entrances and report issues to appropriate entities.
  • Prepare, service, and maintain residence hall and dining facilities for residents and guests.
  • Maintain clean and clear walkways to ensure they are free of debris, litter, snow, and ice.
  • Provide support and assistance in the implementation of plans and procedures during emergencies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3 months of previous cleaning, custodial, hospitality, or related experience.
  • 6 months of continuous employment.
  • English proficiency with the ability to speak, read, write, and understand verbal instructions.
  • Valid driver’s license that meets UW Risk Management standards.
Work Schedule & Compensation

1st Shift: 7:30am – 4:00pm, Monday‑Friday (8‑hour shifts), 40hours per week. Some positions include scheduled shifts every other weekend.

2nd Shift: 3:00pm – 1:30am, 4 days per week (10‑hour shifts), 40hours per week, including rotating holidays. Some flexibility may be possible.

Base pay: $17.51 per hour. Additional pay: up to $2.50 per hour for nighttime work on weekdays, up to $3.30 per hour for nighttime weekend work.
