About the Role

The Facilities & Maintenance Technician I provides essential support to the facilities management team by performing routine maintenance tasks, coordinating service requests, and assisting with space planning activities. This entry-level position plays a vital role in maintaining the safety, functionality, and appearance of building facilities and equipment. The technician works under direct supervision to ensure efficient facility operations and contributes to the development and execution of facility management initiatives.

The Facilities & Maintenance Technician I assists in the development and implementation of facility management plans that support organizational objectives and operational efficiency. The technician supports facility maintenance operations by coordinating service requests, tracking work orders, and communicating with vendors and contractors as needed. This role involves assisting in space planning activities to optimize facility utilization and support organizational needs. The technician performs basic equipment maintenance tasks including cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs to ensure equipment operates safely and effectively.

Additionally, the technician supports the maintenance team in responding to routine maintenance requests in a timely manner, helping to minimize facility downtime and maintain a safe, comfortable environment for building occupants.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 0-2 years of experience in building maintenance or related field
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and maintenance equipment
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform maintenance tasks that require standing, walking, bending, and climbing
  • Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with team members
  • Valid driver's license (if applicable to facility requirements)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated progress towards formal training or education in facilities management, building maintenance, or related technical field
  • Basic knowledge of equipment maintenance practices including HVAC, plumbing, or electrical systems
  • Previous experience coordinating work orders or service requests
  • Familiarity with facility management software or computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
  • OSHA safety training or relevant safety certifications
