Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Facility Maintenance, Building Maintenance
Full-time, regular position, 40 hours per week, 5 days per week, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Base pay for this position is $23.88 - $27.23 per hour (or appropriate transfer/promotion rate).
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Supervise FM staff, prioritizing, assigning and scheduling work.
- Oversee day-to-day operations in assigned areas of responsibility.
- Prepares and reviews a variety of information, logs, invoices and operational records and reports.
- Manages Time and payroll issues Maintains inventory as well as assisting in:
Removal of trash, recycling, food waste, and other debris from campus. - Operate equipment in a safe and effective manner and in accordance with state and national motor vehicle licensing requirements.
- Performs routine maintenance checks, cleaning, and minor maintenance on equipment.
- Plows snow and sand; spreads loam or gravel to assist in maintenance, repair and construction of parking lots, sidewalks, roads and lawns.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature and level.
- Transporting materials between locations.
- Moving materials and equipment for larger projects. Utilizing equipment to remove snow.
- Performing manual labor associated with the assigned task or responsibility.
- Performing an assigned collection route which requires decisions regarding the manner and speed of the collection process.
- Operating a variety of equipment, including large, heavy and complex equipment.

QualificationsRequired:
- High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
- Sufficient experience, including 5 years related experience, Valid Maine commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- Customer service principles
- Specialized equipment and system maintenance and repair Maintenance of related equipment
- Recordkeeping principles
- Applicable compliance with rules and regulations Inspecting, installing, and repairing systems
- Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction
- Positions in this class typically require:
Ability to perform physical activities that require talking, hearing, seeing and considerable and repetitive use of arms and legs and moving entire body, such as reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, climbing, lifting, bending, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials. Heavy work:
The ability to lift to 50 pounds frequently, and/or more than 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Lifting and exerting forces more than 50 pounds require assistance by other employees or mechanical assistance. Individual forces must never exceed 50 pounds. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dust, gases, poor ventilation, and extreme temperatures.
