Day Porter

Position Summary The Grocery Day Porter is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized store environment for customers and employees. This role supports daily store operations by cleaning sales floors, restrooms, entrances, break areas, and other store facilities while ensuring excellent customer service and adherence to safety standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintain cleanliness of grocery aisles, entrances, exits, and common areas.

Sweep, mop, and spot-clean floors throughout the store.

Empty trash receptacles and replace liners as needed.

Clean and sanitize restrooms, break rooms, and employee areas.

Respond promptly to spills and other safety hazards.

Dust shelves, fixtures, displays, windows, and equipment.

Monitor store cleanliness throughout the day and perform continuous upkeep.

Assist with basic store maintenance tasks and report repair needs to management.

Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies in proper working order.

Follow all company safety, sanitation, and health regulations.

Provide courteous assistance to customers when needed.

Support other store departments as assigned during busy periods.

Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Previous janitorial, custodial, porter, or retail experience preferred but not required.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.

Good communication and customer service skills.

Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures.

Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and lift throughout the workday.

Frequent lifting and carrying of up to 50 pounds.

Ability to push and pull carts, cleaning equipment, and supplies.

Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Working Conditions Fast-paced retail grocery environment.

Exposure to cleaning chemicals and cleaning equipment.

Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
