Summer Temporary : Field, Lab & Warehouse

Prince William Water is currently recruiting for temporary/seasonal (summer) positions. The length of each assignment varies and depends on available workload.

Requesting Department: Collection & Distribution

Locations: 15801 Neabsco Rd., Woodbridge, VA; 8410 Virginia Meadows Dr., Manassas, VA; 4 County Complex Court Woodbridge, VA; 1851 Rippon Blvd., Woodbridge, VA

Vacancies: 4 (15801 Neabsco Rd.), 4 (8410 Virginia Meadows Dr.), 4 (4 County Complex Court), 2 (1851 Rippon Blvd.)

Duration: Up to six months

Position Responsibilities/

Essential Job Functions:

• Ability to operate small equipment such as lawn mowers and weed trimmers.
• Ability to paint.
• Work cooperatively with others as well as in a team environment.
• Assist maintenance crews in the absence of personnel.
• Perform other duties as assigned (wash trucks, clean shops, etc.).
• Some experience in grounds and building maintenance and/or painting.
• Possession of a valid Virginia driver's license with a satisfactory driving record according to Prince William Water policy.
• Other duties as assigned or required.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Physical Demands and

Working Conditions:

• Work is regularly active with periods of heavy exertion. Requires walking or standing for long periods, lifting and carrying up to 60 pounds, climbing stairs, ladders and scaffolding, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, holding, grasping and turning objects, operating computer keyboards. Ability to speak clearly, see and hear clearly with or without correction, and detect odors.
• Primary work is performed in shop or field settings and outside. Exposure to dirt and soil, unpleasant odors, hot and humid conditions or inclement weather, and hazards.

Duration: Up to eleven months

Position Responsibilities/

Essential Job Functions:

• Assist in receiving, storing, and distributing goods.
• Issue supplies to users.
• Deliver inter‑office mail and packages.
• Process outgoing U.S. Mail; secure postage meter after each use and advise supervisor of postage balance.
• Take U.S. Mail to post office.
• Perform food delivery, room set‑up, and other set‑up duties for special events.
• Perform routine maintenance of warehouse.
• Possession of a valid Virginia driver's license with a satisfactory driving record according to Prince William Water policy.
• Other duties as assigned or required.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Working Conditions:

• Work is regularly active in a warehouse. Typical duties include lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds; climbing stairs, ladders, or scaffolding; bending, kneeling, crouching; holding, grasping and turning objects; using fingers to operate computer or typewriter keyboards. Requires speaking normally and using normal or aided vision and hearing.
• Noise level is usually moderate. Work subject to frequent interruptions and exposure to dirt and soil.

Position Responsibilities/

Essential Job Functions:

• Prepare samples for analysis.
• Conduct laboratory analysis of potable and wastewater samples (e.g., alkalinity, conductivity, total hardness, calcium, total suspended solids, biochemical oxygen demand).
• Prepare media and reagents for analyses.
• Calibrate, perform general maintenance, and troubleshoot field and laboratory equipment.
• Perform data entry and basic keyboarding tasks using Microsoft Suite and LIMS.
• Other duties as assigned or required.

• Mostly sedentary with periods of light physical activity.
