JOB TITLE: Custodian

CLASSIFICATION: Hourly, Full Time

Perform routine and seasonal custodial services in the assigned area according to a prescribed schedule. Routine and seasonal custodial services will include, but not be limited to:

• Using a vacuum sweeper to clean carpets
• Spot cleaning carpets
• Extraction cleaning carpets
• Emptying trash containers and replacing plastic liners
• Cleaning window glass
• Dusting furnishings
• Replacing burned out fluorescent and incandescent lamps
• Cleaning and disinfecting washrooms
• Restocking toilet paper, soap, and paper towels
• Cleaning and disinfecting drinking fountains
• Sweeping fallen leaves from sidewalks outside entry doors

• High school graduate or equivalent G.E.D. Certificate
• Ability to effectively observe an area to determine cleaning needs
• Ability to exert 50 pounds of force frequently in the performance of routine and repetitive manual tasks
• Knowledge of professional cleaning equipment and procedures is helpful
• Must be able to work evenings Monday – Friday
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions
• Good physical condition
• Good interpersonal and verbal skills
