This program requires students currently pursuing an associate or technical welding degree, who have completed a portion of their curriculum, and will be completing their program after the co-op experience. This program is not designed for graduates. Work will be performed at a surface lignite coal mine.

* Job Description:

**** Duties/Tasks:
*** Perform welding repairs and fabrication on mining equipment
* Read and understand blueprints to assemble and fabricate parts from them
* Locate and repair cracks in metal parts and structural members
* Perform job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established safety procedures, and state and federal environmental regulations
* Other duties as assigned
*
* Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

*** Strong work ethic with effective communication skills and a creative and innovative attitude
* Ability to work efficiently in a team environment, as well as individually with minimal supervision
* Working knowledge of all phases of welding and cutting of metals and understanding metal properties
* Ability to read blueprints with knowledge of rigging procedures
* Valid Driver's license
* Ability to work 12 hour rotating shifts

** Enrolled in welding technical program and in good academic standing.
