Lead Custodial Specialist About This Role
This leadership position within custodial services supports K-State's mission of learning, scholarship, creative endeavor and research by creating and maintaining an environment that contributes to the health and safety of students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The team leader's purpose is to guide and support their team toward achieving organizational goals while fostering individual and collective growth.
This position plays an integral role in maintaining and sustaining university structural assets. It is responsible for first impressions, playing an important role in student, faculty, and staff recruitment and retention. The role performs a variety of custodial functions, including cleaning, disinfecting, minor equipment repair, and preventative maintenance. It requires the use of a broad array of chemicals and operation of power equipment to maintain floors and other duties.
The position also performs miscellaneous tasks as assigned by a supervisor and must be able to work with minimal supervision. The position requires frequent effective interaction with university students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Direct supervision is from the Custodial Services Supervisor. Hours are 5:00 a.m.
- 1:30 p.m., with occasional callbacks for emergencies.

Worksite DescriptionThis position is On-site. All employees must reside in the United States at the start of employment to comply with state law. K-State cannot provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of Idaho.
What You'll Need to Succeed- One year of relevant experience.
- Various training and/or certification may be required.
- Valid driver's license.
- Custodial experience in large residential or commercial buildings.
- Ability to learn operation of a wide variety of commercial janitorial equipment and chemicals.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.
