Supervisor – Building Services – Facilities Operations – Weekends

Position overview:

manage over 3 million square feet of high‑performance health‑care facilities at New York‑Presbyterian / Columbia University Medical Center in Manhattan. The role supervises a multi‑skilled team, develops safe work practices, ensures patient, staff and visitor environmental conditions, plans and maintains work schedules, processes work orders in CMMS, and reports status to senior management.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop, implement and maintain safe working practices for all employees assigned to the units.
  • Ensure appropriate environmental conditions for patients, staff and visitors.
  • Plan and maintain work schedules; review and distribute work orders for HVAC, electrical, lighting, plumbing, carpentry, wind and waterproofing, groundskeeping and snow removal.
  • Ensure all work is captured on the CMMS system timely.
  • Attend weekly scheduling meetings and prepare departmental status reports.
  • Assist in operating budget preparation, monthly variance reporting, BID proposals and procurement processes.
  • Maintain high customer satisfaction through timely work‑order completion and proactive service.

Schedule:

Full‑time day position located at New York‑Presbyterian / Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Work hours include Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday; a fifth day is at the employee’s discretion. This role requires working every weekend.

Required Criteria:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 7 years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of plumbing, HVAC systems, carpentry and low‑voltage & line‑voltage electrical systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Experience with CMMS systems for tracking staff work.
  • Ability to organize a work team, assess performance, and coordinate multiple trades.
  • Effective communication with superiors, peers and subordinates.
  • Customer‑orientated attitude.

Compensation: $112,500 – $143,000 / Annual.
