Summary

This position is responsible for the setup of the baseball diamond and/or basketball court. The person will also be responsible for accurate scoring of the games assigned to them.

Responsibilities
  • Mark field and put out bases, or any equipment needed for the game.
  • Keep a neat and accurate score as outlined on the score sheet.
  • Put away all equipment at the end of each assigned evening.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Act as an impartial observer at all times.
  • Turn score sheet into the department nightly.
  • Report all equipment needs or field problems to supervisors.
Qualifications

Education: Knowledge of the game of softball or basketball

Experience: No experience required

Certifications/Licenses: No certification/licenses required

Other Requirements: Must be at least 15 years of age.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

The position requires the ability to understand and apply mathematical concepts; perform general arithmetic computations accurately and quickly; understand and operate a scoreboard with a mechanical or wireless remote; focus attention on routine or repetitive tasks without losing concentration; adapt to interruptions or equipment failures; maintain constant observation of an assigned area and detect signs of impending trouble; work under minimal direct supervision;

understand and follow written and oral instructions and procedures; maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public; communicate effectively with patrons and staff; read and interpret policy manuals for the work environment.

The City anticipates filling these positions pending Committee approval and funding.
