DescriptionPosition Summary
The Facility & Custodial Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, cleanliness, and overall functionality of company facilities. This position performs and coordinates a variety of light maintenance, repair, and facility improvement projects while supervising the custodial team to ensure a safe, clean, and well‑maintained environment. The supervisor serves as a hands‑on leader who ensures that all work is completed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Facility Maintenance & Repairs- Perform and oversee basic facility upkeep, including minor carpentry, painting and repairs.
- Conduct routine facility inspections to identify and address maintenance or safety issues promptly.
- Plan, coordinate, and complete small repair or improvement projects as assigned.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and inventory of maintenance supplies.
- Ensure all maintenance activities adhere to safety and operational standards.
- Supervise custodial staff and oversee daily cleaning and sanitation of all facility areas.
- Assign and review custodial work to ensure cleanliness, safety, and quality standards are met.
- Develop and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules.
- Train custodial team members on cleaning techniques, safety practices, and proper equipment use.
- Monitor cleaning supply levels and reorder as necessary.
- Conduct periodic performance evaluations and provide coaching and feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and custodial activities, including logs and inspection reports.
- Assist with facility setup and breakdown for meetings, company events, and other activities.
- Support workplace safety initiatives and ensure compliance with OSHA and company policies.
Directly supervises custodial staff, including training, scheduling, and performance management. Coordinates with other departments and external contractors as needed.
Qualifications- High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certification preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in facility maintenance, custodial supervision, or related field.
- Strong working knowledge of basic maintenance practices (carpentry, painting, minor repairs).
- Proven ability to supervise, train, and motivate staff.
- Excellent problem‑solving and time‑management skills.
- Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals, safety instructions, and work orders.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform manual labor as needed.
- Experience managing small facility projects or coordinating vendors/contractors.
- Working knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and facility compliance standards.
This position requires both office and hands‑on work throughout the facility. May be exposed to varying temperatures, noise, dust, cleaning chemicals, and machinery. Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, and lift equipment or materials.
