Adult Sweeper. Lane C – $15.62 per hour, 3.95 hours per day, 5 days per week, 177 days per year. Must be at least 18 years of age to apply. There are no benefits with this position.
Placement on the salary schedule will be reviewed by a supervisor and finalized through the Human Resources and Payroll Departments. Candidates already employed with Nebo School District who are applying for a new position with a lane increase may decrease in overall steps in the new position if offered, accepted, and not in the same job category.
ExperienceJob-related experience is desired.
EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent.
Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance Required.
Purpose StatementThe job of Adult Sweeper is done for the purpose of maintaining an attractive, sanitary, and safe facility for students, staff, and the public; providing equipment and furniture arrangements for meetings, classroom activities, and events; and minimizing property damage, loss, and liability exposure.
This job reports to the Head Adult Sweeper.
Essential Functions- Arranges furniture and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparations for meetings, classroom activities, and special events.
- Assists in securing facilities and grounds for the purpose of minimizing property damage, equipment loss, and potential liability to the organization.
- Attends in-service training (e.g., blood borne pathogens, cleaning solvents, floor care, first aid, etc.) for the purpose of receiving information on new and/or improved procedures.
- Cleans assigned school facilities (e.g., classrooms, offices, gym, restrooms, multipurpose rooms, pools, grounds, desks, lunchroom, locker rooms, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe and attractive environment.
- Performs various custodial functions, as may be required, for the purpose of assisting in maintaining the facility in a safe, attractive environment.
- Reports incidents of vandalism, damages, and/or issues needing action for the purpose of seeking prompt corrective action.
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
- Skills: Adhere to safety practices and operate equipment used in custodial work; ability to perform single tasks with occasional skill upgrades as job conditions change.
- Knowledge: Basic math (fractions, percents, ratios); understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly; knowledge of industrial cleaning methods and safety practices.
- Ability: Schedule activities, collate data, and use job-related equipment; work with others and with data using defined processes; interact with diverse individuals; meet deadlines and schedules; maintain regular attendance.
Work under direct supervision using standardized procedures; provide information and/or advice to others; operate within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions.
Working EnvironmentThe usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Typically, 10% sitting, 60% walking, and 30% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and in a generally hazard-free environment.
