We are seeking a skilled and experienced Apartment Maintenance Technician to join our team for our Maplewood Apartment Complex - Canary Hill Apartments. Our company, H. & Val J. Rothschild, Inc. proudly supports a healthy work and home relationship with a FOUR-DAY (4) WORK WEEK;
Monday through Thursday from 7:0​am to 4:30pm with a half hour paid meal break.

H. & Val J. Rothschild, Inc. has been a trusted name in Twin Cities multifamily housing since 1885 - one of the longest-standing real estate companies in Minnesota.

The ideal candidate must meet Minnesota Multi-Family Background Compliance requirements, have a valid drivers' license, dependable vehicle, valid vehicle insurance, and their own hand and basic power tools. This position does require On-Call Maintenance Rotation and when fully staffed the optimal goal is to be every four to five (4-5) weeks with some variation for Holidays and Time-Off needs. Our pay scale of $25 to $30 hourly is based on apartment maintenance experience and valid licensing of a Special Boilers License and Certified Pool Operator Certification (CPO).

Candidates must have 2-years' previous apartment maintenance employments with experience and knowledge in basic plumbing and electrical, appliance repair, general apartment home maintenance, and the knowledge to ensure the proper functioning and safety of our residential properties. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where customer service and leadership skills are highly valued. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing routine repairs, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining the overall integrity of the property’s infrastructure.

Responsibilities

This position reports to our Maintenance Supervisor and works collaboratively across a portfolio of approximately 600 units in the Twin City metro.

Conduct preventative maintenance and repairs on plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC units, and building structures

Operate related tools and equipment to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems

Perform residential maintenance such as fixture replacements, replacement of countertops, sinks, faucets, slab doors, blinds, ceiling fans, and basic carpentry work. Apartment turns are processed in a 24-hour period and feasible with our Pre-Move Out Inspection and early preparations.

Be a self-starter working on an individual basis, while also supporting other portfolio properties as needed.

Maintain accurate records of work performed; hoping to be fully computerized in the next 12-18 months with the addition of App Folio as our property managment software

Ensure compliance with safety standards and building codes at all times

Respond promptly to resident requests or emergencies related to property maintenance

Grounds assistance related to resident safety; there is a hired snow removal company, but to ensure resident safety our staff assists with walkway and stoop sand/salt application.

Qualifications

Proven experience in apartment residential maintenance (2 years required) with a strong background in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively

Experience working in similar environments that require technical trouble-shooting and maintenance skills is a plus

Ability to commute to Maplewood, MN 55119 (required)
