Position Information
Location:
Cobb County PARKS Department, Jennie T Anderson Theatre (548 South Marietta Pkwy SE, Marietta, GA 30060).
- Perform maintenance and construction tasks for parks and facilities: resurfacing and renovating playgrounds, fields, and courts; painting buildings, equipment, and parking lots; repairing and assembling fences and playground equipment; building sets and staging, shelves, and other items; performing light plumbing, electrical, masonry, and carpentry repairs.
- Perform general custodial duties: cleaning parks, ball fields, restrooms, kitchens, locker rooms, meeting rooms; vacuuming carpets; hosing decks; scrubbing and waxing floors; dusting; washing windows; emptying trash; setting up and tearing down staging, chairs, tables, bleachers.
- Maintain inventory of equipment, parts, and supplies: gather supplies, transport to and from job sites, initiate orders, maintain documentation.
- Operate or use county vehicle, power tools, hand tools: lawn mower, weeder, blowers, tillers, bobcat, tractor, dump truck, wheelbarrow, jack hammer, sledge hammer, saws, chippers, backhoes, and other equipment.
- Perform general maintenance of machinery, equipment, and tools: inspect, check fluid levels, replace fluids, grease, wash/clean, monitor operations and report faulty equipment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or GED required; supplemented by one year of experience in parks maintenance, landscaping, or related field.
Licenses and CertificationsMust possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
Physical AbilitiesTasks require heavy physical effort, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling; lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling moderately heavy objects (20-50 pounds); occasionally heavier up to 100 pounds.
Sensory RequirementsSome tasks require oral communication.
Environmental FactorsExposure to adverse conditions: dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, heights, confined spaces, electric currents, traffic hazards, bright/dim lights, animal/wildlife attacks, bites, water hazards, rude or irate customers.
