Reports To: Maintenance Manager / Plant Manager
Job Summary
The Maintenance Supervisor oversees daily maintenance activities in a USDA-regulated food processing facility. This role ensures equipment reliability, plant safety, and compliance with USDA, food safety, and company standards while leading and supporting the maintenance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily maintenance activities, including preventive and corrective maintenance
- Ensure equipment is maintained to meet USDA, food safety, and sanitation requirements
- Lead, train, and support maintenance technicians
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment and utility issues to minimize downtime
- Coordinate maintenance activities with Production, QA, and Sanitation teams
- Enforce safety policies and lockout/tagout procedures
- Maintain maintenance records, work orders, and spare parts inventory
- Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or certification preferred
- 3–5+ years of maintenance experience in a food or manufacturing environment
- Previous supervisory or lead experience preferred
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
- Familiarity with USDA regulations and food safety requirements
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Working Conditions
- Food processing environment with exposure to noise, temperature changes, and equipment
- Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and emergency call-ins as needed
