In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Director of Environmental Services is responsible for scheduling and supervising technicians, maintaining attendance records, inventory, ensuring compliance, and guiding staff while upholding Standards of Excellence and confidentiality.

• Maintain working knowledge of institutional cleaning supplies and equipment and general knowledge of floor care maintenance.
• Responsible for EVS cleaning and floor care at all Memorial Health System locations.
• Maintain familiarity with regulatory requirements.
• Maintain competency with environmental services computer software system.
• Maintain monthly reports and budget preparation.
• Maintain the grounds keeping program at MMH.
• Maintain the recycling program.
• Coordinate training for new hires in Environmental Services.
• Hold authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, discipline, direct, or recommend such actions using independent judgment.
• Complete and conduct employee performance evaluations based on direct observation.
• Granted authority to perform supervisory duties and held accountable for performing such duties.
• Assume all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.

• Bachelor’s Degree required (consider candidates with 10+ years of managing environmental services in lieu of Bachelor’s degree).
• Master’s Degree preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience managing environmental services preferred.

• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with a variety of personalities and influence others to perform their jobs effectively.
• Ability to make decisions and find proactive solutions to work‑related problems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with institutional cleaning supplies and equipment.
• General knowledge of floor care maintenance.
• Working knowledge of general office equipment, computers, and related software.
• Recommendation to pursue certification in the American Society for Healthcare Environmental Services Association.
