We are looking for a keen individual to join our team as a Labourer / Driver, you will be part of the Works Operations team, which consists of a fast responding, multi‑skilled team servicing the community’s need for functioning water systems, including drinking water, storm water and wastewater.

In this role you will be working across all three water disciplines performing routine tasks in maintaining potable water, sewage and stormwater systems.

In addition to the above, the type of duties include:

  • Work on varied and diverse tasks including the competent installation of infrastructure (stormwater, wastewater and drinking water)
  • Minor earthwork
  • Back filling trenches
  • Minor concrete work
  • Drainage maintenance
  • Collaborative teamwork, under the direction of a leading hand or foreman
  • Learn and develop as you go working on a range of jobs in scope, size and complexity

The team will need someone who is comfortable making sensible and practical decisions about the way they approach their work. This is a versatile and physically demanding role, you will be responsible for various duties, including yard work, operating vehicles, and assisting with maintenance. Depending on the daily tasks, you will work both independently and as part of a team. The role requires manual handling, including heavy lifting, so a reasonable level of fitness is essential.

If you are someone who enjoys getting stuck into a variety of tasks, enthusiastic and well organised, then this may be the role for you. Previous experience in water reticulation, stormwater and sewerage would be an advantage. Training will be provided where necessary. You would need to have a current driver’s licence with at least classes 1 & 2 and preferably WTR endorsement.

To be considered for this position you must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand.
