The Employment and Human Services Department is accepting applications for one vacancy. This newly established position is part of the EHSD Internal Operations Division. Shift‑based evening and night operations support childcare centers across Contra Costa County.

As an Environmental Services Supervisor, you will develop procedures, recruit and lead a new custodial team, and establish standards of excellence for after‑hours cleaning and sanitation. You will work independently, maintain high cleanliness and safety standards, and coordinate with CSB leadership to ensure all childcare facilities remain welcoming, hygienic, and compliant.

• Oversee after‑hours cleaning and sanitation at CSB childcare centers, ensuring classrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, and play areas meet childcare cleanliness standards.
• Build and supervise an evening custodial team using County staff, including hiring, scheduling, coaching, and performance evaluation.
• Train staff on safe, proper, and efficient cleaning practices, including correct use of cleaning solutions and equipment.
• Adjust daily work plans to address special cleaning needs, emergencies, or unexpected schedule changes.
• Inspect facilities for cleanliness, safety hazards, and compliance with childcare, public health, and CSB standards.
• Ensure proper use and basic upkeep of custodial equipment.
• Maintain communication with childcare center and EHSD leadership to coordinate needs and resolve issues.
• Support CSB’s mission by ensuring that all children’s spaces remain clean, healthy, and conducive to learning.

• High school diploma, G.E.D. equivalency, or high school proficiency certificate.
• Three (3) years of full‑time experience in custodial, maintenance, or support duties, with at least one year in a lead or supervisory capacity in a childcare or early education setting.

• Experience supervising custodial or housekeeping staff in childcare, school, medical, or institutional settings.
• Familiarity with childcare sanitation and health‑and‑safety standards.
• Experience training staff on cleaning protocols and safety practices.
• Experience overseeing multiple facilities or satellite sites.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience supporting a program serving children or families.
• Ability to work effectively during evening or night shifts.
