Job Description

Under general supervision, performs building cleaning, facilities and grounds maintenance work in schools and administrative buildings. This is an entry‑level, general worker position in building services. Employees receive on‑the‑job training in applying manual skills and using cleaning and grounds equipment to maintain the interior of buildings and surrounding grounds. The nature of the work is repetitive, physically demanding, and may involve heavy equipment and exposure to hazards.

Employees are required to comply with safety protocols and report any incidents.

Some knowledge of the methods, materials, and practices of building and grounds work. Ability to learn how to properly operate and maintain custodial and grounds care equipment; ability to use approved cleaning supplies and chemicals; ability to monitor building spaces and grounds to ensure a safe and secure environment; basic knowledge of emergency facility response procedures; ability to comprehend and follow instructions;

ability to communicate with customers; knowledge of the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).

Completion of ninth grade required. High School or GED diploma preferred. Experience in general cleaning of buildings and grounds. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience that provide the necessary knowledge, abilities, and skills to perform effectively in the position may be considered.
