Job Summary

Make a difference in patients' lives as an Environmental Attendant Lead with Corewell Health. Your contributions have a direct impact on high-quality care; you will be responsible for basic cleaning tasks and will supervise and coordinate the activities of Environmental Attendants. Interacting with visitors and staff regularly, you will use communication and collaboration to ensure continuity of service and to foster a positive work environment.

Functions
  • Under the general supervision of the Manager Environmental Services & Dispatch, continuously inspect and observe all areas of the facility that require Environmental Services.
  • As a working lead person, allocate work to the Environmental Services staff and continuously inspect these accomplishments to ensure conformance with standards of cleanliness.
  • Ensure that all assignments are completed in a timely fashion and convey results to the Manager Environmental Services & Dispatch.
  • Perform all duties of the Environmental Services classification up to and including project work and cover schedules when needed.
  • Perform work of equal skill and responsibility as directed. May also perform work of a higher level in preparation for increased responsibility when the workload of the department requires.
  • Serve as the communication line between the varied shifts.
  • Set an example as an outstanding worker, in compliance with department and hospital policies.
  • Attend all required Safety Training programs and describe responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job‑related hazards.
  • Follow the Hospital Exposure Control Plans/Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogens responsibly.
  • Demonstrate respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
  • Promote effective working relations and work effectively as part of a department/unit team inter‑ and intra‑departmentally to facilitate the department’s/unit’s ability to meet its goals and objectives.
  • Assist in recommendations for hiring, promotions, demotions, transfers and other personnel actions including disciplinary action.
  • In absence of supervision, may be required to work varied shifts for short periods of time.
Qualifications

Preferred

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of relevant experience; one to three years of experience in housekeeping.
