Building Service Worker (Shift
2)

Shift: 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm (Evening job). 8 hr shift per day, 12 months. Pay range: $19.68 - $25.38 per hour based on experience.

Job Summary:

Under general supervision, performs building cleaning, facilities and grounds maintenance work in schools and administrative buildings. Entry‑level custodial position. Employees receive on‑the‑job training in use of cleaning tools and equipment, and supplies to clean the interior of buildings and maintain grounds. Work involves physical effort, heavy lifting up to 50 lbs, and exposure to accident hazards. Employees are considered emergency personnel and may be required to report to buildings during inclement weather or other emergencies.

• Clean interior of school buildings, including floors, surfaces, and restrooms.
• Operate custodial and grounds care equipment and maintain it.
• Use approved cleaning supplies and chemicals safely.
• Monitor building spaces and grounds to ensure a safe and secure environment.
• Assist in emergency facility response procedures.
• Communicate effectively with customers and coworkers.
• Wear required uniform and proper attire.

• Basic knowledge of building and grounds work methods, materials, and practices.
• Ability to learn to properly operate and maintain cleaning equipment.
• Ability to comprehend and follow instructions.
• Basic knowledge of emergency facility response procedures.
• Knowledge of seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).

• Completion of ninth grade required; high school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience in general building and grounds cleaning is preferred.
• Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience may be considered.

Sufficient physical strength and freedom from disabling defects to lift and move heavy objects (minimum 50 lbs). Manual labor and sustained physical effort required.

May involve frequent overtime, night work, and travel to other locations to assist in emergency situations.
