Job Description for a Building Cleaner/Facilities and Grounds Maintenance role.

Hours:

2:30–11:00 pm. Wage range: $20.65–$26.16 per hour, based on years of service. Benefits information is available via the provided link.

• Perform building cleaning, facilities and grounds maintenance work in schools and administrative buildings under general supervision.
• Apply basic custodial and grounds care practices with appropriate tools, equipment, and supplies.
• Assist with maintaining interior cleanliness and outdoor grounds; perform repetitive tasks with sustained physical effort; may involve moving or lifting furniture and equipment.
• Recognize and respond to potential hazards; comply with safety and emergency procedures as required.
• Report to buildings during inclement weather as emergency personnel, as needed.

• Physical strength to lift and move heavy objects (minimum 50 lbs) and perform manual labor as required.
• May involve heavy work and exposure to varied working conditions.
• Frequent overtime or night work may be required.
• Employees must provide a current working telephone number and wear provided uniforms and proper attire.

• Knowledge of methods, materials, and practices of building and grounds work.
• Ability to learn proper operation and maintenance of custodial and grounds equipment; use of cleaning supplies and chemicals.
• Ability to monitor building spaces and grounds to ensure a safe and secure environment; basic knowledge of emergency facility response procedures.
• Ability to comprehend instructions and communicate with customers.
• Knowledge of and ability to meet the seven core SSPGS (Supporting Services Professional Growth System) competencies.

• Completion of the ninth grade required;
  High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience in general cleaning of buildings and grounds; other combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered if they provide the necessary knowledge, abilities, and skills.
