General Description
Performs entry-level custodial work; cleaning and caring for county buildings and premises, and maintaining custodial equipment. Works under close supervision with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Schedule may be modified as required by the County's needs.
Examples of Work Performed- Cleaning and maintaining sweep, mop, dust, spray waxing, floor stripping, restroom maintenance, replenishing supplies, applying cleaning chemicals
- Carpet maintenance; clean office furniture, walls, windows, floors; empty trash; inspect buildings for cleanliness and report needed repairs
- Perform related work as assigned
Graduation from high school or equivalent (GED). Experience in custodial work preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, and RegistrationMust have a current, valid Texas motor vehicle operator’s license.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Knowledge of cleaning techniques and procedures
- Skill in the use of custodial materials and chemicals, and in the operation of custodial equipment
- Ability to perform basic tasks such as vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, using equipment such as scrubbers, extractors, and buffers
- Perform all general required tasks as directed by Lead Custodian or Custodian Supervisor
- Use floor machines for buffing, stripping, waxing, vacuuming, and carpet cleaning safely, according to proper usage, and as agreed to the schedule
- Perform all tasks within proper safety guidelines, company guidelines, and as directed by management
- Follow all company policies and procedures regarding safety, customer service, proper attire, and working conditions, such as hours and timekeeping
- Perform assignments according to schedule; wear uniform at required worksites
- Perform janitorial/custodial tasks based on the defined scope of work (empty wastebaskets and replace liners, dust/clean tops of office furniture, vacuum carpeting, spot clean soiled areas, clean and sanitize toilets, basins, and urinals, clean sinks, counters, mirrors, fixtures, sweep and damp mop floor with disinfectant, spot clean walls, partitions, doors, refill all restroom dispensers, wipe/clean tabletops and chairs, wipe/clean vending machines and appliances)
