Terms:

Full-time position; 3rd shift position working from 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. with a half-hour lunch break.

The Custodian will perform various custodial duties to include but not limited to the cleaning of restrooms, lounges, offices, classrooms, and corridors in accordance with the standard operating procedures of the department. The Custodian must be flexible and show the ability to work as a part of a team with a willingness to accept guidance and directives from the Custodial Supervisor and/or the Director of Operations.

Custodial Services is divided into four shifts: 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., 2:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m., 5:00 p.m. – 1:30 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. – 6:30 a.m. Each shift will include a thirty-minute lunch break.

This position may work various hours depending on the needs of the department with occasional weekend coverage. This position may be exposed to cold and hot conditions throughout the shift. This position must demonstrate safety responsibility and the ability to wear all personal protective equipment (PPE). This position is considered essential staff. Essential staff provide services that relate directly to the health, safety, and welfare of the University, ensure continuity of key operations, and maintain and protect University properties.

Should the University close for any reason, essential staff will report to work as usual.

Custodial cleaning equipment, custodial chemicals, office machines, lifts, and motor vehicles.

Requires the ability to walk, stand, bend, and/or reach, as well as climb a ladder and clear snow and ice when needed;
Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and operate standard custodial equipment.
