Description

Facilities Maintenance Tech – JBS is seeking an hourly Facilities Maintenance Tech 2nd shift Team Member! Position starts at $25‑$35 per hour based on experience. The Facility Maintenance Technician performs basic and routine facilities maintenance, construction, and repair tasks according to service, quality, and safety standards.

To be a Facility Maintenance Technician typically requires 3‑5 years of related experience.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Monitor the water treatment facility's performance to ensure effective treatment and maintain facility’s regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor the refrigeration system and adjust/maintain proper cold room and freezing tunnel temperatures with little to no supervision. Must maintain equipment for peak efficiency, and power saving while meeting the requirements of OSHA’s PSM, and the EPA’s RMP programs.
  • Routinely inspect electrical systems such as wiring, fixtures, and appliances utilizing basic electrical testing equipment such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, and mega ohmmeters. Identify faults or hazards. Troubleshoot system failures. Review blueprints to understand wiring placement. Conduct maintenance repairs on old or faulty fixtures.
  • Perform highly diversified duties to install and start up production machines and other plant equipment.
  • Resolve all maintenance and mechanical problems promptly with minimal disruption to production schedules.
  • Follow all lock‑out, tag‑out procedures.
  • Perform equipment PMs.
  • Keep record of all work performed.
  • Update maintenance history logs and complete required paperwork.
  • Account for equipment used for maintenance and repair.
  • Understand and follow the company GMP policy.
  • Understand and follow the company safety rules.
  • Clean and maintain work area.
  • May be required to work long hours and weekends.
  • May assume other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent certification.
  • At least 3‑5 years of industrial maintenance experience required.
  • Ammonia refrigeration experience preferred.
  • Ability to trouble‑shoot and fix electrical issues.
  • Wastewater treatment plant experience preferred.
  • Possesses the skills needed to repair, maintain and troubleshoot machinery.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be well‑organized with good attention to detail.
  • Display strong work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Adaptable and dependable with ability to follow direction and work cooperatively with others.
  • Must maintain a helpful and professional attitude and appearance.
  • Ability to apply common‑sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uncomplicated, instructions and to deal with problems involving a few different variables.
Work Environment

Very active position, requiring standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.

Hearing

Must be able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.

Repetitive Motion

Must be able to frequently and regularly use wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

Visual Abilities

Acute close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Physical Strength

Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with a partner throughout the day.

Working Conditions

Must be able to work for long hours in a no‑kill food processing environment, which is wet, damp, and cold. Temperatures are around 34 degrees Fahrenheit, and employees are expected to remain in these conditions for most of their workdays.
