Overview

The Maintenance Technician II at the Montage Mason is responsible for maintaining a safe, comfortable, and well‑functioning environment for residents, visitors, and team members within our senior living communities. This position performs intermediate‑level preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on building systems, equipment, and resident living areas while ensuring compliance with applicable safety regulations and organizational standards.

Working independently with minimal supervision, the Maintenance Technician II troubleshoots and repairs a wide range of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and general building maintenance issues. This position also serves as a mentor to Maintenance Technician I team members by providing leadership, technical guidance, and on‑the‑job training.

Success in this role requires strong technical knowledge, excellent problem‑solving skills, exceptional customer service, and a commitment to preserving a safe, welcoming, and dignified environment for the seniors we serve.

Schedule
: M‑F 4:30pm - 7:00pm, some weekend

Pay rate
:
Starting at $20.00 an hour. Pay is based on professional experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance to ensure the safety, reliability, and efficiency of building systems and equipment.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain plumbing, electrical, HVAC, mechanical, carpentry, and general building systems.
  • Perform plumbing repairs including repairing and replacing PVC piping, toilets, faucets, drains, and related fixtures.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical components including switches, receptacles, lighting fixtures, ballasts, and other electrical devices.
  • Perform routine mechanical and electrical maintenance on facility equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and replace motors, belts, and other mechanical components.
  • Troubleshoot resident room technology including televisions, telephones, and other electronic equipment.
  • Complete repairs in resident apartments with professionalism, courtesy, and respect for resident privacy and comfort.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and facility emergencies.
  • Travel between multiple community locations to complete assigned projects and work orders.
  • Safely operate maintenance equipment including power tools, saws, blowers, snow blowers, salt spreaders, ladders, and other equipment.
  • Utilize the computerized maintenance management/work order system to manage assignments, document completed work, and prioritize urgent requests.
  • Complete work orders accurately, efficiently, and within established time frames, ensuring high‑priority issues are addressed before the end of each shift whenever possible.
  • Communicate equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, and facility issues promptly to supervisors.
  • Assist with maintaining compliance with Life Safety Code requirements, OSHA standards, infection prevention practices, and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Maintain building appearance by identifying maintenance needs before they become larger issues.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by communicating respectfully and professionally with residents, families, visitors, contractors, and fellow team members.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and hands‑on training to Maintenance Technician I employees.
  • Assist other maintenance team members with work orders and technical troubleshooting as needed.
  • Support emergency preparedness efforts, including severe weather response, emergency repairs, and snow removal.
  • Maintain a positive, collaborative working relationship with all departments to support quality resident care and services.
  • Continue to expand technical knowledge and maintenance skills through ongoing learning and training.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Must maintain current vehicle liability insurance and an acceptable driving record.
