Job DescriptionPosition Summary:
This full‑time position reports to the Director of facilities and is part of a team that maintains and improves the campus buildings and grounds. The Buildings and Grounds Crew Member will assist in the maintenance of plumbing, carpentry, boiler systems, landscaping, and snow removal and in the improvement of all of the School’s physical assets. The role is 9:00 AM‑5:00 PM, Monday‑Friday with occasional evening or weekend shifts for emergency repairs or seasonal grounds prep such as snow removal.
- Perform preventive and planned maintenance duties in all areas of the building and grounds work, including maintaining records consistent with the maintenance work order system (mail run between campuses).
- Repair or make recommendations to supervisor on any defective equipment in the area of responsibility.
- Perform a variety of building maintenance tasks across 3 campuses.
- Complete projects requiring light carpentry, minor building repairs and assist with the upkeep of the buildings and grounds.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on all plumbing and electrical systems to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
- Perform seasonal grass cutting, snow removal, and overall maintenance of grounds as required.
- Maintain excellent communication practices with supervisor and all designated personnel during performance of duties.
- Maintain proper documentation practices for all assigned tasks, emerging issues, new discoveries, and work‑related discussions.
- Maintain and perform minor auto and equipment repairs on company vehicles and grounds equipment.
- High School Diploma and a minimum of 3 years’ direct experience in building maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of carpentry, electrical and plumbing systems and equipment.
- Ability to perform basic general maintenance (carpentry, painting, landscaping).
- Good communication and documentation practices using basic computer skills.
- Must be able to push, pull, lift up to fifty pounds and routinely walk to and from various buildings carrying tools, equipment and other essentials to the job site.
- Must be able to stand, walk, carry, stoop, kneel, bend, and reach overhead, climb and focus both near and far.
- Must be able to work outside in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to shovel snow when asked; preferred knowledge of snow plow equipment.
- Preferred knowledge of Bobcats and various landscape equipment.
- Ability to perform work in accordance with governmental and regulatory agencies including EPA, OSHA, DEP, etc.
- Strong interpersonal and oral and written communication skills.
- Current state issued driver’s license and clean driving record.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred.
- High School/Trade School degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
