Cox Automotive is seeking a skilled Body Shop Buffer/Finisher Technician to restore high-quality vehicle finishes in our Automotive department. In this on-site role, you'll perform buffing, polishing, and final finishing on repaired and painted vehicles to OEM-quality standards. Responsibilities include surface preparation, defect removal, swirl/scratch correction, and final inspection to ensure vehicles meet Cox Automotive's quality, safety, and appearance expectations. You'll collaborate closely with painters and body technicians in a fast-paced, people-first environment that values integrity, diversity, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
- Buff and polish repaired and painted vehicle surfaces to OEM-quality standards
- Perform surface preparation, color sanding, and defect removal (runs, dust, orange peel)
- Inspect finishes for gloss, texture, color match, and imperfections; correct as needed
- Use buffers, sanders, polishers, and compounds safely and effectively
- Mask and protect adjacent panels, trim, and glass during finishing work
- Follow work orders, repair plans, and OEM/refinish guidelines
- Maintain clean, organized work area and equipment, adhering to 5
- S and shop standards
- Comply with all safety, environmental, and PPE requirements when using chemicals and tools
- Communicate with painters, estimators, and body technicians to ensure quality and efficiency
- Support continuous improvement and lean processes within the body shop
Required Skills
- Automotive paint buffing and finishing
