The Night Auditor is responsible for providing professional overnight Front Desk service while completing the hotel's daily financial and operational audit.
This position supports both the Delta Hotels by Marriott and Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott properties and requires an associate who is dependable, detail-oriented, trustworthy, comfortable working independently, and capable of making sound decisions during overnight hours.
The Night Auditor serves as the primary overnight point of contact for hotel guests and is responsible for guest check-ins and check-outs, reservations, guest requests, security awareness, financial transactions, overnight reports, and completion of the daily audit.
The successful candidate must be able to balance exceptional Marriott guest service with strong accounting accuracy and attention to detail.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES OVERNIGHT FRONT DESK OPERATIONS- Maintain a professional and welcoming Front Desk presence throughout the overnight shift.
- Greet and assist guests professionally.
- Process late-night arrivals and early-morning departures.
- Complete guest check-in and check-out accurately.
- Verify reservations, room assignments, identification, and payment information.
- Respond to guest requests and questions.
- Assist guests with hotel amenities, services, and local information.
- Monitor lobby activity and maintain a safe and welcoming environment.
- Handle guest concerns professionally and escalation issues to management when necessary.
- Maintain accurate shift logs and overnight documentation.
- Complete all required Front Desk checklists.
- Complete the daily Night Audit accurately and within established deadlines.
- Review daily hotel revenue and transaction activity.
- Verify room charges, taxes, fees, payments, and adjustments.
- Review guest folios for accuracy.
- Identify discrepancies and research variances.
- Ensure all transactions are posted to the correct accounts.
- Run required daily, financial, occupancy, and operational reports.
- Verify room occupancy and revenue figures.
- Complete end-of-day procedures in the Property Management System.
- Ensure the business date is advanced correctly.
- Balance Front Desk transactions.
- Review payment and credit-card activity.
- Complete required audit paperwork and documentation.
- Communicate significant discrepancies or irregularities to management.
- Maintain confidentiality of all hotel financial and guest information.
The hotel operates as a cashless property.
The Night Auditor is responsible for accurately processing approved electronic payment methods and maintaining strict payment-security procedures.
Responsibilities include:
- Process credit/debit and approved electronic payments accurately.
- Verify payment authorization as required.
- Review guest folios and payment activity.
- Identify and report payment discrepancies.
- Follow all hotel procedures regarding electronic payment processing.
- Protect guest payment information.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial information.
- Never accept or process unauthorized payment methods.
- Recognize Marriott Bonvoy members according to applicable standards.
- Assist guests with Bonvoy questions and benefits.
- Ensure eligible members receive appropriate recognition.
- Maintain awareness of guest preferences and special requests.
- Provide professional and personalized service.
- Anticipate guest needs whenever possible.
- Maintain a welcoming environment even during overnight hours.
The Night Auditor is expected to maintain Marriott service standards 24 hours a day, including during overnight operations.
