This position manages the overall operation and administration of all vehicle inspection (ECR) functions (Dealer, Commercial, & Specialty). Key responsibilities include scheduling appropriate staffing to match the flow of incoming vehicles and facilitating training activities to ensure timely delivery of accurate, high-quality vehicle data, condition information & digital imaging.
Job Duties- Manage and direct the documentation of vehicle condition writing, condition report, and/or computer data entry.
- Plan and coordinate all skill-based training of inspectors and check-in workforce, including the Inspector Certification Program (ICP) in coordination with the national trainer.
- Ensure employees are allowed to advance their ICP levels as per the ICP Guidelines.
- Actively engage all departments and the management team within the operating location and field management to effectively ensure compliance with SLA Requirements and completion of high-quality condition reports as efficiently as possible.
- Work with vehicle entry check-in, inspection employees, and photographers to provide quality service and product to customers in an effort to meet key performance targets.
- Provide quality service and interact with dealers to resolve customer complaints or any other problems that may arise.
- Requisition equipment, materials, and supplies for the Vehicle Entry Dept. and oversee maintenance and protection of department equipment.
- Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the behaviors related to such. Work in cooperation with safety leadership to support all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
- Ensure employee compliance with auction and government work rules.
- Motivate while coaching and counseling employees.
- Counsel and discipline employees, as necessary.
- Analyze, compile, and conduct regularly scheduled performance reviews for onsite employees with input and assistance from the Operational Excellence support managers.
- Complete physical audits as prescribed by the Manheim Inspections QA Program. Review arbitration results to identify training and/or counseling needs.
- Review vehicle condition reports and vehicles with customer/client representatives to provide for specific needs. Forward client‑specific requests that vary from Insight ECR standards to operational excellence for review.
- Perform Quality Audits to QA program standards. Adhere to Manheim and NAAA standards and policies.
- Review work volumes, plan, and continuously monitor staffing levels to ensure efficiency, quality work product, and effective customer service; review departmental performance against key performance indicators and metrics and develop and execute strategies for improvement.
- Effectively lead the team at the location by setting an example in behavior, championing values and ensuring that all employees are treated with respect.
- Enforce all company policies and procedures related to employee and customer conduct.
- High School Diploma/GED and 5 years' experience in a related field (automotive shop preferred). The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline and 3 years' experience in a related field; a Master's degree and 1 year of experience; or a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience.
- 1+ year of experience in a management, supervisory, or lead role.
- Experience in the automobile industry or the Auction business.
- Strong communication and interaction skills.
- Competent supervisory and organizational skills.
- Experienced in computer and software knowledge.
- Safe drivers needed; valid driver's license required.
- Ability to drive vehicles with standard and automatic transmissions.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk, and hear. Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat, and climb.
- Manual dexterity, repetitive motion tasks.
- Vision abilities required include close, distance, and color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
USD 61,200. per year
