Company Cox Automotive – USA – Vehicle Operations – Inspector Apprentice. This position requires on‑site presence at a specified Cox location. Work days are Tuesday through Saturday, 7:00AM to 3:30PM. Compensation is hourly, ranging from $15.10 to $22.60 per hour, with potential commissions or incentive programs.
Job Responsibilities- Verify vehicle information based on work order information—identify damage, missing parts, and mechanical problems by inspecting all customer vehicles at receipt (interior, exterior, odometer, trunk area, engine compartment) and noting any damage or repair to frame/paint, engine noise, AC/heater operation, radio, tire condition, etc.
- Prepare and complete all necessary documentation.
- Set up the system for day‑end and perform day‑end procedures.
- Maintain knowledge to ensure all policies and procedures are followed.
- Write electronic condition reports (ECR).
- Conduct OVE courtesy walks around inspections.
- Maintain knowledge of system capabilities, required software packages, and web‑based applications.
- Stay updated on improvements and changes concerning body mechanical, frame labor, and inspection techniques.
- Demonstrate a visible safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling related behaviors.
- Actively participate in safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- May be required to work overtime as business needs dictate.
- High School Diploma or GED (minimum).
- Generally less than 2 years of experience in a related field.
- Safe driver with a valid driver's license.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask, follow directions, and take instruction.
- Good organizational skills.
- Strong technical understanding (preferred).
- Advanced computer skills.
- Ability to stand, walk, or sit for prolonged periods.
- Ability to bend, stoop, squat, or kneel.
- Ability to lift and hold at least 10 pounds at waist level for an extended period.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
Tuesday – Saturday, 7:00AM – 3:30PM.
Work EnvironmentExposure to outdoor weather and inclement conditions, moderate noise level, and potential inhalation of fumes and odors. Overtime (more than 40 hours per week) may be required as business needs dictate.
