Job Overview

WM is seeking a CNG/Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Matteson, IL. The position offers a safe work environment, career progression, and financial stability.

• Starting salary of $26.97-$40.46 per hour, based on experience

Monday – Friday, 1:00 pm – 9:30 pm. Work will be conducted in a repair/maintenance shop at the Matteson IL hauling site.

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on a wide range of vehicles and equipment.
• Estimate time and material costs on vehicle repairs and new parts.
• Perform work within our Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
• Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns.
• Conduct safety checks on vehicles to protect employees and the public.
• Complete required paperwork, documenting parts usage and repair times.
• Assist senior mechanics with project work.
• Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate/OSHA standards and perform all work according to established safety procedures.

• 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Over 18 years of age.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Successfully complete and pass a pre‑employment drug screen and physical.

• Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, and climbing; constant standing, walking, and grasping.
• Occasional sitting and balancing.
• Exposure to cuts, burns, toxic chemicals, dirt, odors, noise, and weather extremes.
• Work in inside garage/shop or gas plant conditions as well as outdoor conditions (inclement weather, heat, humidity).
