Schedule:
Each school day, Monday through Friday during the regular school year.
Stipend:
As set forth in Article VIII.D ( Stipends ) of the Proviso Teachers Union Collective Bargaining Agreement (July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2028). Please see the stipend schedule on the District website or view it directly in the CBA 24-28 signed copy updated as of 9.20.24.pdf .
Pro-rating:
Compensation will be pro-rated based upon the proportion of the term of service actually worked in the Sixth Assignment.
Proviso Township High Schools District 209 is accepting internal applications from qualified bargaining unit teachers interested in voluntarily assuming a Sixth Assignment (6th teaching period) during the regular student day, based on instructional need and scheduling feasibility. A Sixth Assignment is an additional teaching period that replaces the teacher's planning period for the duration of the assignment.
Contractual Understanding- A teacher's schedule consists of five (5) teaching periods and one (1) planning period. A Sixth Assignment replaces the planning period for the duration of the assignment.
- Sixth Assignments are voluntary and are compensated in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
- Must be a current District 209 bargaining unit teacher.
- Must hold appropriate Illinois licensure/endorsements (or otherwise be qualified) for the assignment.
- Must be able to meet all instructional responsibilities associated with the additional teaching period.
- Deliver instruction aligned to District curriculum and expectations.
- Maintain attendance, grading, and required student records.
- Communicate with students, families, and support staff as appropriate.
- Fulfill standard professional responsibilities consistent with District expectations for classroom teachers.
- Communications Skills (listening, verbal, and written).
- Demonstrates great willingness to work with freshmen.
- Ability to work effectively with students, staff, colleagues, and community.
- Interpersonal abilities, positive attitude, and reliable.
- Must be able to demonstrate progress of students assigned to their roster in alignment with the program focus, and articulate the methods used to achieve those results.
- Must be able to use data to inform necessary supports.
- Attributes of growth mindset and grit.
- Participation in collaborative team meetings to assist in the analysis and utilization of assessment data to improve the implantation of student supports during Freshman Success.
- Assists collaborative teams in.
- Prepare forms, records, and reports as directed for the continuous monitoring of student performance and progress during interventions.
- Participates in school and district level team meetings as directed.
- Work with individual students or small groups of students to provide educational interventions and progress monitoring.
- Meet with all students on their roster, each school day, during the full duration of the assigned Freshmen Success period.
- Collaborate with school personnel for the smooth transition of student to and from Freshman Success.
- Provide the high-quality tutoring needed to move students to grade level proficiency.
- Implement student interventions and monitor student progress according to prescribed procedures.
- Provide data to the school teams and participate in decisions about student progress.
- Build strong, positive relationships with students and staff.
- Maintain high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as requested by the Principal.
- Follow all rules, policies and procedures of Proviso Township High Schools along with state and federal regulations pertaining to school issues.
- Perform promptly the responsibilities stipulated in Board of Education policies and administrative procedures.
- Adhere to all personal absences procedures and provides appropriate plans and materials for use by the substitute.
- Model and enforce classroom and school rules, policies, and procedures; exemplify the district's mission and beliefs.
- Be punctual in arrival times.
- Cooperate with other educational personnel.
- Maintain the confidentiality of schools, teachers, and classrooms.
