Senior Health System Leadership Position Summary The Service Line Executive Director is responsible for the overall growth, strategic development, operational performance, and clinical program advancement of a designated service line across Loyola University Health System. This leader develops and executes annual operating plans, drives clinical and financial performance, and partners with physician and administrative leaders to expand services, improve patient outcomes, and strengthen market presence.

The role collaborates across the care continuum, including inpatient, outpatient, faculty practice operations, network affiliates, partner hospitals, and physician groups. The Executive Director serves as a strategic leader focused on quality, patient experience, program growth, physician engagement, operational excellence, and financial performance. This position has significant organizational impact and requires the ability to navigate complex healthcare environments, develop innovative care models, and lead large multidisciplinary teams.

What

You’ll Do
  • Strategic Service Line Leadership Develop and execute comprehensive service line growth strategies aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Partner with physician and executive leadership to identify, develop, and implement new clinical programs and services.
  • Lead the annual operating plan process, establishing measurable goals related to growth, quality, patient experience, and financial performance.
  • Present strategic business plans and service line proposals to executive leadership, governance committees, and approval bodies.
  • Clinical Program Development & Performance Collaborate with clinical leaders, operational teams, faculty practice leadership, home care, and ambulatory care teams to optimize the continuum of care.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators across quality, patient experience, growth, operational efficiency, and financial outcomes.
  • Develop action plans to address performance gaps and achieve organizational and service line goals.
  • Lead initiatives that enhance patient access, care coordination, and clinical outcomes.
  • Network Development & External Partnerships Collaborate with the Network Development Team to establish, expand, and manage clinical affiliate programs.
  • Serve as the primary Loyola representative for affiliated hospitals, health systems, and physician groups.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to advance strategic objectives.
  • Identify and implement mutually beneficial solutions that strengthen partner relationships and drive organizational growth.
  • Quality, Regulatory & Accreditation Excellence Ensure continuous compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC), Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), and other regulatory and accrediting agencies.
  • Develop compliance monitoring systems and corrective action plans when needed.
  • Pursue program distinctions, certifications, and recognitions that enhance market position and program reputation, including national rankings and specialty designations.
  • Financial & Operational Management Oversee service line financial performance, budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation.
  • Monitor reimbursement trends and collaborate with contracting teams to optimize payer relationships and revenue opportunities.
  • Evaluate business opportunities, market trends, and competitive dynamics to support long-term growth strategies.
  • Develop business cases and operational plans supporting program expansion and sustainability.
  • Patient & Physician Experience Partner with clinical leadership to continuously improve patient, family, and referring provider experiences.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance value, access, communication, and service delivery.
  • Drive initiatives that support Service Excellence standards and patient-centered care.
  • Facilities & Resource Planning Assess facility and infrastructure needs to support program growth and operational effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with facilities and development teams to secure resources, capital investments, and philanthropic support when appropriate.
  • Ensure facilities effectively support patients, providers, staff, and referral partner needs.
  • Leadership & Talent Management Lead, mentor, and develop a large multidisciplinary team of 30+ employees.
