Position Overview

Research Assistant II, Position #8151032, Full‑time, Non‑Exempt, in the Surgery Department at Loyola University Chicago, Maywood®-Health Sciences Campus. The role requires fully in‑person work and is grant‑funded with close collaboration with a Principal Investigator.

• Carry out experiments as instructed by the Principal Investigator, including tissue or cell cultures, reagent and solution preparation, and direct experimental measurements.
• Perform and assist with laboratory techniques in accordance with the direction of an individual PI.
• Gather, organize, and record data; perform simple analysis of results; assist with library and electronic research; incorporate new protocols and methodology into work as directed by PI and/or senior lab staff.

• Required:
  
  Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology or related science.
• Preferred:
  Master’s Degree in Biological or Physical Sciences.
• Required Experience:
  
  1–2 years of job‑related experience.
• Preferred Experience:
  
  3–5 years of job‑related experience.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or Biology.
• Familiarity with laboratory procedures and safety protocols.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• No supervisory responsibilities.
• Direct animal contact required.
• Physical demands include lifting, carrying, standing, and repetitive motions.
• Working conditions include exposure to animals.
• Position salary range: $18.50–$22.50/hr.
