Research Assistant Professor
We are seeking a highly motivated molecular biologist and translational cancer researcher to join a new research laboratory in the Department of Cancer Biology at Loyola University Chicago, Stritch School of Medicine (SSOM). The successful candidate will lead and participate in studies focused on the molecular mechanisms underlying breast cancer initiation, progression, and tumor microenvironment interactions.
Responsibilities- Design and execution of experiments using human and mouse breast cancer organoid cultures, established breast cancer cell lines, and mouse models of breast cancer (xenograft, intraductal injection, genetically engineered premalignant models).
- Perform and oversee molecular and cellular biology techniques, including cloning, flow cytometry, fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), immunostaining, confocal microscopy, and tissue‑based analyses.
- Generate, analyze, and integrate high‑throughput genomic datasets, including bulk and 10‑cell RNA‑seq and ChIP‑seq.
- Apply advanced bioinformatics approaches to analyze sequencing data and integrate genomic information from public resources, including GWAS and eQTL datasets, to identify molecular pathways and candidate therapeutic targets relevant to breast cancer.
- Contribute to experimental design, data interpretation, manuscript preparation, and grant development.
- Collaborate closely with laboratory members, clinical and computational collaborators, and pursue independent scientific development and leadership within ongoing research programs.
- PhD in Molecular Biology or a related science field.
- Extensive experience in molecular and cellular biology, cancer research, animal models, genomic technologies, and bioinformatic analysis.
- Preferred:
Demonstrated expertise in organoid culture systems, next‑generation sequencing approaches (10‑cell RNA‑seq, ChIP‑seq), computational analysis of genomic datasets, and scientific publications. - At least 4 years of postdoctoral research experience is preferred.
Standing, repetitive motions, working with animals, and irregular hours.
Salary and BenefitsSalary range: $70,000–$85,000 for a twelve‑month academic appointment. The position is fully grant‑funded. Benefits information available at https://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).
