Data Scientist, Research Assistant/Associate, Research Analyst
Research Assistant I – Loyola University Chicago – Full‑time, Non‑Exempt, Public Health Sciences Department, Maywood‑Health Sciences Campus.
OverviewThe Research Assistant I supports two key projects: (1) Loyola’s affiliation with the CTSA group ITM 3.0, partnering with multiple universities and institutions to develop translational science solutions; (2) the ENACT project, which advances EHR‑based research through informatics tools, NLP, federated and centralized AI‑based analyses, and sustainability planning. The role involves quantitative and qualitative research, data management, community engagement, and dissemination of findings.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with Loyola faculty, staff, and external partners across departments.
- Recruit participants and conduct surveys, interviews, focus groups, and ethnographic data collection.
- Design and analyze qualitative and quantitative data, including mixed‑methods approaches and natural language processing.
- Develop dissemination materials (abstracts, manuscripts, presentations) for varied audiences.
- Manage multiple projects independently, meet deadlines, and maintain meticulous attention to detail.
- Work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams and adapt to evolving role demands.
- Maintain continuous communication with project sponsors and stakeholders.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work autonomously on multiple simultaneous projects while meeting deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and quality control of own and others’ work.
- Knowledge of research strategies for survey and ethnographic data, including customer discovery, focus groups, formal interview, and design thinking.
- Experience in qualitative data collection and analysis, survey design, and project management.
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred Master’s degree) in a related field.
- Minimum one–two years of research experience in an academic setting.
- Proven experience with qualitative and survey design.
- Knowledge of statistical and qualitative software (SAS, Stata, NVivo).
- Experience with mixed methods research.
- Experience in academic research institution.
- Capability to implement research strategies alongside Loyola experts.
Hourly rate: $16.60 – $20.00 per hour.
