Duties and ResponsibilitiesDr. Toni Pak, Professor and Chair in the Department of Cell & Molecular Physiology at Loyola University Chicago, is seeking a Post Doctoral Research Scholar to work on funded Projects. The Pak Lab focuses on Nuclear steroid receptors, non-coding RNAs and Aging.
The post-doctoral Research Scholar participates substantially in full-time, mentored research or scholarship. It is a transitional position and is viewed as preparatory for an academic and/or research career. The scholar may also serve as a collaborator on a multi-scholar research initiative, and may have lead responsibility for discrete components of a larger project under the general direction of a senior or principal researcher.
The Department of Cell and Molecular Physiology is an open, collaborative, and stimulating research environment with broad expertise including cellular biophysics, specialized imaging, computational modeling, aging, and proteomics. Training is available in a variety of super-resolution quantitative microscopy and image analysis techniques, and mass spectrometry. PI commitment to mentoring and career development opportunities tailored to allow the postdoctoral fellow to transition into their desired career path.
Flexible Start Date. Regular opportunities to interact with collaborators at several Chicago Research Universities, and attendance at local and national Scientific Society meetings.
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience M.D. or PhD Required
Candidate Qualifications- Candidates must have recently obtained (or will obtain before starting) a PhD with a strong Molecular Biology background.
- Experience in one or more areas of iPSC, 3D organoids, and/or mass spectrometry
- Enthusiasm and commitment to pursue novel research areas and develop new techniques and approaches.
- Team player with an interest in learning to mentor and train other Lab members.
- Ability to think independently and the initiative to follow new ideas.
- Motivation to pursue career development opportunities (e.g. applying for
- Fellowships and Awards, promoting your research, networking, etc.).
- Strong verbal and written Communication Skills.
