What You Will Do
- Plan, assign, direct, check, and coordinate work.
- Ensure quality and quantity of production while following safe practices and rules to clear and trim trees and brush away from utility lines.
- Be familiar with electrical hazards.
- Remove branches and tree material.
- Operate heavy equipment near energized lines.
- Clean up and dispose of all debris.
- Operate and service equipment such as gasoline–, hydraulic tools, power saws, power winches, machines, chippers, and sprayers.
- Use hand‑tools such as axes, hand‑lines, saws, block and tackle, pruners, etc.
- Spray brush and stumps with proper and selective herbicide application.
- Obtain written or oral permission from property owners to trim or remove trees or perform other work on property; arrange access and advise of interruptions.
- Promote and maintain good customer and public relations through effective work and appropriate crew behavior.
- Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.
- Cooperate with customers, police, and fire departments when blocking streets or driveways.
- Set up barriers, warning signs, flags, markers, etc., to protect employees and the public.
- Perform tree and bucket rescue.
- Train new personnel.
- Work in all temperatures; be exposed to nature (irritating plants, biting or stinging insects).
- Work near energized parts or equipment.
- Work in traffic.
- Possess working knowledge and ability to identify tree and shrub species.
- Be exposed to hazards of working near power equipment, traffic, high voltage wires, and falling limbs.
- Maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry.
- Wear necessary PPE.
- Enter and exit a vehicle multiple times a day.
- Withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments (rain, heat, sun, cold).
- Stand for extended periods of time.
- Read and comprehend written and verbal job instructions/information.
- Verbally communicate with other crew members and fully understand instructions and information.
- Be familiar with electrical hazards.
- Work demands physical energy, twisting, some lifting ability, and hand‑to‑eye coordination.
- Use machines, tools, equipment, and aides such as chainsaws, hydraulic tools, and hand tools as required.
- Have transportation to and from the show‑up location.
- Have a valid Driver’s License.
- Pass a background check.
- CDL is a plus.
