Salary Range: $17.00 - $18.00 Hourly

Position Summary

The Maintenance Custodian will keep buildings in clean and orderly condition. Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish. Perform routine maintenance activities, notifying management of need for repairs, and cleaning snow or debris from sidewalk.

Essential Functions
  • Sweeps, vacuums, and mops floors.
  • Spot clean all carpets, rugs and runners when required.
  • Spot clean walls and base as needed.
  • Cleans and services restrooms, including sanitizing fixtures and replenishing supplies.
  • Maintain floor drains and traps to be free of debris and odors.
  • Dust all furniture and horizontal surfaces.
  • Clean and sanitize all drinking fountains.
  • Clean all doors, frames and partitions of fingerprints, dust and dirt.
  • Wash windows.
  • Disinfect telephones.
  • Clean and service kitchen and break areas, including wiping off furniture countertops and appliances, sanitizing fixtures, and replenishing supplies.
  • Empty all trash receptacles and remove material to refuse collection area.
  • Vacuum all ceiling air supplies and diffusers all areas.
  • Clean exhaust fan grills.
  • Check operation and clean emergency and exit lights.
  • Replace bulbs and fluorescent tubes and clean light fixtures (Not to exceed 10 feet in height).
  • Unclog toilets, rod drain and sewer lines and clean areas if back-up occurs.
  • Clean and sanitize areas of bodily waste and fluids.
  • Strip, buff and wax floors.
  • Perform maintenance tasks such as replace damaged/ stained ceiling tiles, paint, move furniture, hang pictures, bulletin boards and dry erase boards.
  • Perform ground maintenance including removal of snow from sidewalks, salting, picking up trash and debris, etc.
  • Observe appearances and conditions of premises and equipment; reports needed repairs, safety hazards, or conditions requiring outside vendor services.

Regular, reliable, predictable attendance.
Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Skills & Abilities

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent

Experience: 1 plus years of experience in a maintenance role (preferred). Knowledge of standard methods, practices, tools, and equipment of the janitorial service. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules. Ability to follow instructions. Ability to operate and use janitorial tools, equipment, and supplies such as floor buffers, vacuum cleaners, and cleaning compounds and solutions.

Computer

Skills:

Basic computer skills, Outlook, Internet knowledge, ability to use maintenance ticketing software.

Certifications & Licenses:

Other Requirements: Must have and maintain a valid driver's license. Must be able to meet agency driver safety requirement of carrying personal vehicle insurance with the following limits: $50,000 bodily injury, each person; $100,000 bodily injury, each accident; $50,000 property damage. Ability to use Phone, Fax, Copier, and file required.
