SUMMARY OF POSITION

Under general supervision, this position will perform a variety of duties to provide support to the users of airport facilities. Duties to include custodian and manual work in the care and cleaning of the McKinney National Airport Terminal and associated buildings and hangars. Responsible for general building security, maintenance, and cleanliness of building, including the restrooms, locker rooms, staff areas, meeting rooms, hallways, doors, and water fountains.

This position is also responsible for performing minor repairs, light grounds keeping and misc. moving of furniture. Performs related work as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Uses computer for tracking daily logs, work orders, inventory supplies and usage, emails and training.

* Drives to and from assigned work locations as assigned.

* Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in city and department attendance policies and procedures.

* Cleans and vacuums all carpeted areas throughout the facility, including offices, hallways, meeting rooms, and all other carpeted areas.

* Sweeps, mops, cleans and buffs all non-carpeted areas, including restrooms, locker rooms, common areas throughout the facility and associated hangars.

* Operate the buffing machine effectively to strip, wax, and buff floorings as needed.

* Takes out garbage and recycling daily.

* Picks up debris on facility grounds.

* Uses hand tools, dolly, blower, genie lift, electrostatic disinfectant sprayer, ladders, and other types of tools and equipment.

* Reports equipment malfunctions and facility maintenance needs to immediate supervisor, or by utilizing the work order entry system.

* Assists with special event preparations and daily activities that could involve building, assembling, or transporting.

* Performs deep cleaning projects as needed:
Dust & polish chairs, desks, tables, shelves and other furniture, dust & clean return air grills & registers, light fixtures, etc.

* Orders, retrieves, and delivers cleaning supplies using the city's established purchasing systems.

* Stocks janitors' closets; monitors stock usage & inventories stock.

* Performs midday cleaning & trash removal (break rooms & restrooms).

* Performs periodic floor detailing and strip & wax floors.

* Performs periodic maintenance tasks (i.e. changing A/C filters, changing light bulbs, replacing batteries in flush valves, etc.)

* Maintains the physical grounds of the terminal area to include the following activities: cut, trim and edge grass, and remove trash from grass and parking lot, etc.

* Removes snow/ice from all walks around terminal building and areas immediately adjacent thereto to include spreading deicing chemicals to these areas.

* Comply with all written City policies and procedures.

* Responds to customers' and tenants' questions and comments in a courteous and timely manner.
