DEPARTMENT: Economic & Community Development/Neighborhoods

HOURS OF WORK: Monday
- Friday; 7:30AM - 6:00PM

Position Type: Full-time, Temporary position for approximately 6 months

Performs various tasks associated with home weatherization such as:

• Job site and classroom safety training
• Installing doors, windows, insulation, trailer skirting, duct sealing, smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, vapor barriers, and air infiltration prevention measures
• Conducting blower door testing and air movement diagnostics within dwellings
• Loading and unloading materials and tools, and participating in job site and shop clean‑up
• Conducting preventative maintenance on tools and motor vehicles
• Traveling to and from job sites
• Performing other duties as assigned

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• One year experience in carpentry, weatherization, construction, or other related fields
• Valid driver's license

Veterans who wish to be considered for interview preference must attach a copy of their DD Form 214 indicating an honorable discharge. Minimum Qualifications of the position must be met for preference consideration.

If selected for hire, appointment in this position will be conditional upon the submission of a current copy of the applicant’s Alaska Driver’s License and a current (dated within 30 days from date requested) copy of their Department of Motor Vehicle driving record, including a driving record from previous states if the Alaska Driver’s License was first issued within one year prior to application, documenting an acceptable driving history.

A pre‑employment physical and Respirator Medical Evaluation Questionnaire may be required.

Must be physically able to work inside and outside year‑round, work on roofs, in small spaces, and occasionally with respirators or wearing protective equipment.

If selected for hire, appointment will also be conditional upon satisfactory completion of a criminal background investigation (AS 12.62.160[10]). Accordingly, it will be necessary for the selected applicant to provide certain identification information and be fingerprinted. Fingerprint cards must be dated within 30 days from date requested. The processing fee of $54.25 plus the cost of being fingerprinted (variable) is the responsibility of the selected applicant and must be accomplished before beginning work.
