Maintenance Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY

The Evening Shift Maintenance Assistant at The Trillium is responsible for supporting the overall maintenance, appearance, and safety of the community during evening hours. This role places a strong emphasis on painting, floor care, and general upkeep to ensure a clean, well-maintained, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and experienced in surface preparation, painting, and commercial floor maintenance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance tasks throughout the community during evening hours
• Complete interior painting projects, including wall repair, surface preparation, priming, and finishing
• Maintain and restore flooring surfaces, including stripping, waxing, buffing, and carpet care
• Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner
• Ensure hallways, common areas, and resident spaces are clean, safe, and in good repair
• Assist with moving furniture, setting up rooms, and supporting community events as needed
• Identify and report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or repair needs to the supervisor
• Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance areas in an organized and safe condition
• Follow all safety procedures, OSHA guidelines, and company policies
• Provide excellent customer service when interacting with residents and team members

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Minimum of 1-2 years of maintenance experience, preferably in a residential, healthcare, or hospitality setting
• Proven experience with painting (interior preferred) and floor care (stripping, waxing, buffing, carpet cleaning)
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and general repair work is a plus
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision during evening hours
• Strong attention to detail and time management skills
• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods

WORK SCHEDULE

• Evening shift (hours may vary based on community needs)
• Some weekends and holidays may be required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting
• Ability to use maintenance tools and operate floor care equipment
• Exposure to cleaning chemicals, paint fumes, and maintenance-related materials
