Housekeeper – Assisted Living & Memory Care
The Trillium Tysons is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and compassionate Housekeeper to join our team!
The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment throughout our assisted living and memory care community. This position is primarily assigned to a resident floor where many residents may experience incontinence, making thorough cleaning and sanitation an important part of the role.
This is a hands-on housekeeping position. Applicants must be comfortable cleaning and disinfecting areas following incidents involving bodily fluids, including urine, fecal matter, blood, vomit, and other biohazardous materials. Proper infection control procedures and PPE are required and training will be provided.
What You'll Do
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly housekeeping duties in assigned areas, including resident apartments, bathrooms, common areas, lounges, offices, hallways, and other community spaces.
- Sweep, dust, vacuum, dust mop, and wet mop floors, stairways, rugs, carpets, runners, and other surfaces.
- Rotate hallway and entryway runners as needed.
- Clean, sanitize, and polish bathrooms, showers, sinks, toilets, and other fixtures.
- Clean and disinfect resident rooms, bathrooms, and common areas following episodes of incontinence or other accidents.
- Safely clean and disinfect urine, fecal matter, blood, vomit, and other bodily fluids in accordance with infection control and safety procedures.
- Collect trash and refuse and place it in designated areas for disposal.
- Dust, clean, sanitize, and maintain furniture, lamps, glass surfaces, woodwork, walls, windowsills, and other surfaces.
- Scrub and clean bathroom and shower areas, including tile, woodwork, window frames, and sills.
- Stock paper products, soap, and other supplies as needed.
- Maintain housekeeping equipment and supplies in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
- Report maintenance concerns, repairs, supply shortages, or equipment needs to the Housekeeping Supervisor.
- Follow all community policies, infection prevention procedures, OSHA requirements, and safety guidelines.
- Interact with residents, families, guests, and team members in a courteous, respectful, and friendly manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Previous housekeeping experience in senior living, assisted living, healthcare, hospitality, or a similar environment is preferred but not required.
- Must be comfortable working around and cleaning bodily fluids, including urine and fecal matter.
- Must be willing to follow proper infection control, PPE, and biohazard cleanup procedures.
- Dependable, punctual, and hardworking.
- Able to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean environment.
- Warm, friendly, and respectful personality.
- Enjoys working with and serving a senior population.
- Able to communicate effectively in English and interact courteously with residents, families, guests, and coworkers.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Physical Requirements
This is an active housekeeping position requiring extended periods of standing and walking, as well as frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
Must be able to safely lift and carry housekeeping supplies and equipment weighing up to 35 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, with or without assistance.
