Position Summary
The City of McMinnville is looking to hire a Utility Worker II for the Parks Maintenance Division. This position will be primarily responsible for maintaining cleanliness and safety in the parks system. They will serve as the face of the division to the public as they will routinely work at the most heavily used parks daily. Janitorial services, waste removal, vandalism remediation, facility repair and preventive maintenance will be the primary responsibilities of this position.
Prioritization of work is necessary to ensure that safety and health hazards are responded to in a timely manner.

Essential Job Functions
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Conduct routine audits and inspections on play equipment.
- Repair and perform preventative maintenance to park structures and amenities.
- Install elements and/or retrofit pieces.
- Identify hazards to the public in park facilities.
- Perform preventative maintenance on play equipment.
- Complete vandalism identification, reporting, removal and repair.
- Complete system programming, wiring.
- Complete system seasonal start-up and shutdown.
- Complete system repair and installation.
- Read blueprints/as-builts.
- Conduct daily chemical tests and filtration cleaning.
- Troubleshoot and repair.
- Perform preventative maintenance.
- Perform tree maintenance including hazard identification, regular pruning and/or removal, assessment of scope of work to determine if arborist is needed.
- Complete chemical application, which requires identification of pests, knowledge of safety procedures and PPE needed, ability to read and follow labels, proper record keeping.
- Perform grounds maintenance including mowing, pruning, edging, blowing hardscapes, use of small and large equipment.
- Assess turf and landscape issues, applying appropriate fertilizers and pest management techniques.
- Respond to wind, snow/ice, and flooding events at all hours.
- Respond to hazardous spills.
- Perform traffic control set-up for emergency road closures.
- Remain proficient in safe operation of small equipment (push mowers, blowers, edgers, chainsaws).
- Operation and routine maintenance of various sized riding mowers and utility vehicles.
- Operation and routine maintenance of large rolling stock (back hoes, trailers, tractors).
- Work with volunteers on assigned projects.
- Deliver tools and materials for volunteer projects.
- Communicate effectively with volunteers during projects.
- Daily sanitization-cleaning toilets, sinks and high touch surfaces, paper stock replacement.
- Preventative maintenance-pressure washing, painting, floor sealing.
- Door, hand dryer, partition, and minor plumping repairs.
- Vandalism communication, removal and repair.
- Proper sanitization practices for blood-borne pathogens.
- Assessment and communication of supply and product needs.
- Identify and communicate with other departments on location of illegal camps.
- Remove and clean-up camps on park property.
- Identification of illicit drug use, proper disposal practices, proper decontamination practices.
- Emptying park garbage cans.
- Ground litter removal.
- Park cleaning and preparation ahead of scheduled Parks & Recreation programming.
- Reservation preparation and clean up
- Reservation space maintenance and repair
- Interact with park patrons in a friendly and professional manner.
- Respond to questions and complaints appropriately, refer to applicable staff when necessary
- Interact with homeless population on a frequent basis, knowledge of de-escalation tactics.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, other agencies, and the public.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the classification.
- Participate in committees when requested.
- Maintain proficiency in job requirements which may include attending training and meetings, reading materials, and meeting with others in areas of responsibility, which may require travel.
- Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly manner.
- Maintain confidentiality, data integrity, and comply with all related city, state, and federal standards related to confidentiality.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the duties as described. A typical way to qualify would be a high school degree and at least one year of vocational training and at least 6 months of related experience. This position also requires:
