Facilities Maintenance Technician
The Facilities Maintenance Technician will support multiple buildings at a Medford site, performing hands-on maintenance and repair work across plumbing, HVAC, and single-phase electrical systems. This role works as part of a team of four technicians, diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment issues, coordinating with third-party contractors for complex projects, and helping ensure the safe, reliable operation of facility and production machinery in a cleanroom FDA-regulated environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine and corrective maintenance on facility systems, including plumbing, HVAC, and electrical equipment across all buildings on the site.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot single-phase and three-phase electrical issues, including motors, wiring, and power supply problems.
- Maintain and repair production machines and general facility machinery to minimize downtime and ensure smooth operations.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems according to established maintenance protocols.
- Handle basic and advanced plumbing tasks, including identifying and resolving plumbing-related issues throughout the facility.
- Work within a team of four maintenance technicians, collaborating to prioritize work orders and share knowledge across all aspects of facility maintenance.
- Coordinate and oversee third-party contractors for large or intricate jobs, ensuring work is completed safely, effectively, and in alignment with facility standards.
- Support facilities repair activities in a cleanroom FDA environment, adhering to relevant procedures and compliance requirements.
- Use troubleshooting skills to identify root causes of mechanical and electrical problems and implement effective repairs.
- Participate in cross-training to build proficiency in all maintenance protocols and systems used across the site.
- Respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner and document work performed to maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Work reliably and consistently, showing up daily and contributing positively to the maintenance team's performance.
Essential Skills
- At least 2 years of experience in facilities maintenance, with a focus on diagnosing plumbing and HVAC issues.
- Hands-on experience with plumbing maintenance and repair in a facility or industrial environment.
- Practical knowledge of HVAC systems, including troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical and performance issues.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair single-phase electrical systems and motors, including 120-volt circuits.
- Experience with electrical maintenance involving 208-volt and 280-volt systems.
- Knowledge of three-phase power and three-phase motors, including basic diagnosis and repair.
- Experience in facilities maintenance and facilities repair work across multiple building systems.
- Background in machinery and production machine maintenance, including mechanical troubleshooting and repair.
- Ability to read and work with wiring and electrical components safely and accurately.
- Familiarity with pneumatics and pneumatic systems used in machinery and facility operations.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems.
- Reliability and commitment to consistent attendance, with a willingness to learn and be trained on new systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in a cleanroom or FDA-regulated facility environment.
- Comfort coordinating and communicating with third-party contractors on complex maintenance projects.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a small, collaborative maintenance team.
- Willingness to be cross-trained across all aspects of maintenance protocols and facility systems.
- General maintenance technician background with exposure to multiple trades (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, mechanical).
- Strong problem-solving mindset and openness to continuous learning and skill development.
