Custodian; part-time

• Ensure City buildings remain safe, clean, and welcoming for employees and the public
• Carry out routine cleaning, sanitizing, and light maintenance tasks

• Perform other custodial duties as assigned

• At least six months of custodial experience

• Ability to follow safety procedures and work independently

• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Six (6) months or more experience as a custodian with an industrial, janitorial firm, or commercial business and thorough knowledge of custodial materials and methods

• Knowledge of cleaning methods, procedures, equipment, and supplies used in custodial maintenance
• Ability to meet physical requirements of the position
• Ability to adjust to priority work changes
• Ability to conform with all safety rules and perform work in a safe manner
• Ability to operate modern office equipment including computer equipment, and specialized software applications programs effectively and efficiently
• Ability to use tact, initiative, prudence, and independent judgment within general policy, procedural, and legal guidelines
• Ability to demonstrate excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  
  Ability to establish, maintain, and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
• Ability to obtain and maintain Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) clearance upon hire
• Possess a valid driver's license by date of hire. New employees establishing resident status in the State of Oregon must obtain an Oregon driver's license within 30 days (ORS 807.020 (1))
• Maintain an acceptable driving record throughout employment
• Successfully complete a background investigation to the satisfaction of the City

• Monday - Thursday: 6:00 PM - 11:00 PM plus Sunday: 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM

Occasionally, you may be required to work on a holiday if it falls on your regular workday.

The anticipated hiring range for the Custodian position is $20.70 (first step) to $21.74 or $22.82 (second or third step). The City of Medford determines starting pay based on an evaluation of relevant education, experience, and qualifications as provided by the applicant in their application materials, alongside others who perform work of comparable character consistent with the Oregon Equal Pay Act.

Six steps are included in this salary range, allowing opportunity for annual movement through the steps.

• Clean, sanitize, and disinfect restrooms, break rooms, and all public spaces
• Stock custodial closets with appropriate supplies
• Sweep, vacuum, and mop (wet and dry) a variety of flooring materials
• Dust furniture, woodwork, fixtures, and equipment
• Wash windows, mirrors, walls, tables, and chairs
• Empty and dispose of collected waste, recycled goods and other materials
• Adhere to safety practices and standards when performing all duties
• May be required to travel between different work locations based on operational need
• Scope of the assigned area will depend on departmental structure and is determined at the discretion of the department director or designee
