Fleet Service Laborer

As a Fleet Service Laborer, you'll support routine maintenance such as oil changes, fluid checks, filter replacements, tire service, vehicle cleaning, and other shop support tasks. Required
Education and Experience:
- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; and
- Two (2) years of experience in servicing automotive equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and/or Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) certifications.
Four 6-hour days per week.
The anticipated hiring range for the Fleet Service Laborer position is $19.92 (first step) to $20.91 or $21.96 (second or third step). The City of Medford determines starting pay based on an evaluation of relevant education, experience, and qualifications as provided by the applicant in their application materials, alongside others who perform work of comparable character consistent with the Oregon Equal Pay Act.
Three steps are included in this salary range, allowing opportunity for annual movement through the steps.

Essential Functions of the Position:
- Performs equipment and vehicle servicing tasks which may include:
- Preventative maintenance services, routine maintenance on light, mid-range and heavy-duty trucks, ambulance, fire apparatus, police vehicles, construction equipment, compressors, generators, and mowers.
- Tire repairs, mounting, and balancing.
- Minor repairs on vehicles, equipment and tools as needed.
- Provides limited assistance to mechanics.
- Transports vehicles or equipment as needed.
- Picks up or delivers parts from various suppliers as required.
- Maintains a clean and safe work area.
Other Functions of the Position:
- Wash and clean vehicles.
- Performs building and grounds maintenance which may include:
- Mopping floors.
- Emptying trash.
- Maintaining shop liquid delivery system.
- The scope of the assigned area will depend on departmental structure and is at the discretion of the Fleet Supervisor.
